Dorian Baroque will be joining the choir of The Church of the Epiphany to present this cantata written for the first Sunday in Advent. Nun komm, der Heiden Heiland (Savior of the nations, come) was first performed on December 2, 1714 in Weimar.

This is the third year we have had the opportunity to perform with the Epiphany Choir and what makes it exciting for us is that our performance replicates the setting in which Bach presented all his church cantatas – during church! Sacred cantatas were used as musical interludes to inspire spiritual devotion, and the profundity of Bach’s music is striking in this reverent setting.

The Epiphany Choir – Larry Long, conductor
Charlotte Mundy, soprano
Mark Sanderlin, tenor
Alex Bonnin, bass
Marina Fragoulis & Nell Flanders, baroque violins
