Marina Fragoulis

Marina Fragoulis has performed in orchestras and ensembles throughout the New York City metro area on nearly every stage, including Carnegie Hall, Riverside Church, and Alice Tully Hall.  She has performed under the baton of noted conductors Kurt Masur, Philippe Entremont, John Rutter, JoAnne Falleta, John Maurceri, and Robert Mann and regularly performs with the St. Cecilia’s Chorus & Orchestra, the Westchester Chamber Symphony, Collegium Westchester and the New England Symphonic Ensemble.

Marina’s interest in early music led to studies at the Oberlin Baroque Performance Institute and the Amherst Early Music Festival.  Her teachers include Cynthia Roberts, Marc Destrubé, Marilyn McDonald, Julie Andrijeski, and the renowned Bruce Dickey.  An active chamber musician, Marina has collaborated with Biber Baroque and is a member of the all-female ensemble SIREN Baroque.

As concertmaster, Marina has performed with coópera: Project Opera Manhattan, the Astoria Symphony, Pocket Opera of NY and the Amherst Early Music Festival orchestra and as a principal violinist of the Martina Arroyo Foundation, Sinfonia Celeste, the Monmouth Civic Chorus, the Garden State Philharmonic and the DiCapo Opera Theater.  She has given solo recitals at Gracie Mansion and the Greek Orthodox Archdioceses in New York, and has appeared at the Harmonia Mundi Festival in Italy with I Cameristi di Fiesole in concerts led by members of the Berlin Philharmonic.  In 2006 she was featured on Cosmos FM radio performing chamber music by Manos Hadjidakis, Mikis Theodorakis and other prominent composers from her native country of Greece.

A dedicated music educator, Marina was awarded the first Music Fellowship in the NYC Teaching Fellows program in 2002 and has mentored the violin sections of the NJ Youth Symphony and Frank Sinatra High School.  She is the senior violin Teaching Artist of Midori & Friends and has served administrative roles for the Brooklyn Chamber Music Society and Bargemusic.  Marina is a graduate of the Mannes College of Music where she studied with David Nadien.
