Francis Liu

With an inclination for eclectic projects, violinist Francis Liu plays music ranging from early Baroque to the latest contemporary pieces. He has most recently been on tour with the Baroque ensemble Musica Angelica and the actor John Malkovich, performing the stage-play “The Infernal Comedy.” Other projects include appearances in the KLANGSPUREN Festival of Contemporary Music in Austria, and a recording of Bach’s St. Matthew Passion on period instruments for the 40th anniversary of Oberlin’s Baroque Performance Institute. Mr. Liu was a founding member of the Adelphi String Quartet, which served as the graduate quartet-in-residence at the University of Maryland from 2009-2011. With members of the quartet, Mr. Liu also completed a recording of Walter Gieseking’s rediscovered Kleine Musik, which will be released on Centaur Records. Beginning the fall of 2012, he will be attending the historical performance program at the Juilliard School.
