Carolyn Jeselsohn

Known for her musicality and expressive tone, cellist Carolyn Jeselsohn has performed throughout the world as a soloist, chamber artist and orchestral musician. She received her training at the Cleveland Institute of Music, studying with Merry Peckham and Allan Harris earning her Bachelor’s and Master’s in cello performance with a focus on string quartet playing. Passionate about early music, Carolyn performs on her baroque cello whenever possible. She participated in an early music workshop, studying performance practice and baroque cello at l’Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya in Barcelona in 2010.

Carolyn is an active recitalist and chamber musician performing in various concert series, including the Third St. Music Settlement Artist Series, Con Vivo and many others. She has appeared with many ensembles including The Knights, the String Orchestra of New York (SONYC), Metamorphosen Chamber Orchestra, Westchester Philharmonic and the Brooklyn Philharmonic as well as many others. As a studio and commercial musician, Carolyn toured with Brian Wilson, recorded with producer/musician Guy Berryman of Coldplay, Kono Michi and has been heard on TV commercials. She has participated in many chamber music festivals and workshops, including the Perlman Music Program (Shelter Island, NY), Yellow Barn (Putney, VT), The Great Lakes Chamber Music Festival (Detroit, MI), the Takacs Quartet Seminar (Boulder, CO) and Kneisel Hall Chamber Music Festival (Blue Hill, ME) to name a few.

As a teacher, Carolyn currently serves on the faculty at the Third Street Music School Settlement, the JCC Thurnauer School of Music, Elizabeth Morrow School Summer String Festival, as well as teaching private lessons. Carolyn received her Suzuki training with Pamela Devenport at the Intermountain String Suzuki Institute in Utah and at the School for Strings Long Term Teacher Training workshop.  She spent several summers as a teaching artist at Kneisel Hall Music Festival Young Musicians Program and the Adult Institute coaching chamber music. She is a Suzuki Association of America registered Suzuki cello teacher.
